SQuesta volta abbiamo scelto per voi un cantautore direttamente from UK! Allenate il vostro inglese e scoprite un po’ su questo songwriter meritevole!

Keith John Adams has been a solo lo-fi renegade for more than a decade. The HHBTM label from Athens, Georgia released two of his three solo albums in the USA, leading to several tours there and in Japan, playing with acts such as Of Montreal, Neutral Milk Hotel, Apples in Stereo, Deerhoof and Mountain Goats.
About the new album, out the first decembre, he said that the title- ‘Roughhousing’ – is both a description of the recording and a mission statement. It was created in a series of quick frenzies in London’s cheapest rehearsal rooms, office spaces, bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens and even a few recording studios. A weathered collection of equipment was cast around the room with a microphone set up in the middle. Going from drums to piano to guitar to melodica to bass to vocals… in each seat trying to imagine himself a slightly different musician…. a slightly different member of the ‘band’.

‘Roughhousing’ is in mono, which adds to its timeless feel. And the CD and download version utilises a peculiar approach to mastering: it’s a recording of the vinyl album being played on a vintage hi-fi turntable, replete with surface noise and the odd pop.

Garnering support from the likes of Steve Lamacq, Gideon Coe, Stuart Maconie and Chris Hawkins (BBC 6Music) via quietly snuck-out single tracks – ‘Change’, ‘Music In My Feet’ and ‘No
Room’ – KJA’s fourth solo album is a bristling collection of lo-fi pop nuggets, possibly best exemplified by the incessant, propulsive beat of ‘Vulnerable’…. but for every uptempo blast of joyous bliss there’s a more melancholic counter-balance, lending the record a rich emotional range.
